Loryn Brazier

Loryn Brazier's portraits include chief executive officers of U.S. and international corporations, university presidents and deans, authors, judges, legislators, clergy and civic leaders, as well as family portraits. She is honored to have work included in the National Portrait Gallery's collection at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. and displayed at the Virginia Historical Society Museum in Richmond, VA. Brazier's work has been exhibited in the United States, Italy, and France, and she has had representation in Scotland and Denmark. Publications that discuss and display her work include The Best of Oil Painting (1996), Portrait Inspirations (1998), and The Best of Portrait Painting (1998), American Artist Magazine (August 2000).

With energy, color and light as her trademarks, Brazier approaches each portrait with the intention of, first and foremost, creating a work that will evoke an emotional response and will be enjoyed for years to come. It is her desire to capture more than merely a physical likeness of her subject. Brazier is a versatile painter whose situational portraits suggest insight into her subjects' characters and reveal a sensitivity to their personal histories. Her more traditional portraits capture the spark that is the essence of the sitters' personalities. Working in oil on canvas in a loose and painterly manner, Brazier's main focus is portraiture, however, she has a passion for landscape, still life, and figurative painting as well.

Brazier studied under the nation's foremost portrait painter, Everett Raymond Kinstler and continues to benefit from his advice. She is an alumna of the Master-Artist program at the Santa Fe Institute of Fine Arts. She is a member of New York's historic National Arts Club, the Artists' Equity League, the Professional League and is an associate member of Oil Painters of America, Allied Artists, and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. She is a signature member of Alla Prima International.
